On August 10, 2026, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia, with its epicenter near San José del Palmar, in the department of Chocó.
The impact has been especially severe in Chocó, Valle del Cauca, and different parts of Colombia’s Coffee Region, including areas around Pereira and Manizales.
The emergency is still developing. Homes, health centers, schools, roads, and other infrastructure have been damaged. Thousands of people are in need of medical assistance, safe drinking water, food, shelter, and basic supplies while emergency teams continue working in affected communities.
Aftershocks are also continuing. Project HOPE has reported at least 150 aftershocks following the main earthquake, and this number may continue to rise as seismic activity develops.

We have reviewed the organizations and donation links below and confirmed that they belong to humanitarian organizations currently responding to the emergency in Colombia.

🔴 Red Cross / IFRC
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has launched an emergency appeal to support the response of the Colombian Red Cross.
Their teams are supporting affected communities through emergency assistance, including search and rescue, first aid, psychological support, family reunification, emergency shelter, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services.
🩺 Project HOPE
Project HOPE has deployed teams to assess health and humanitarian needs following the earthquake.
The organization is working with health facilities and communities, including areas that can be difficult to reach, and is helping provide essential medical and hygiene supplies and other resources for affected families and healthcare workers.
🍲 World Central Kitchen
World Central Kitchen (WCK) is also responding in Colombia together with local partners.
Their teams mobilized after the earthquake to prepare and distribute fresh meals to people and families affected by the disaster, including communities in some of the hardest-hit areas.
